The Laco Flieger Original Saarbrücken Automatic 45 mm is an exceptionally faithful recreation of the legendary German observation watches from the 1940s, known as B-Uhr (Beobachtungsuhren), originally designed as high-precision aerial navigation instruments.
At the time, only five manufacturers—IWC, Laco, Lange & Söhne, Stowa, and Wempe—were authorized by the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM) to produce these watches under strict technical standards. With an original diameter of 55 mm, these timepieces became true icons of instrumental and aviation watchmaking.
With the Pilot Watches Original collection, Laco offers the most authentic reconstructions of these historic watches available today, carefully adapting every component to contemporary sizes such as this impressive 45 mm format, always respecting the original construction plans.
This model preserves all the defining features of historic Flieger watches: an iconic logo-free dial to avoid distractions, Type A (Baumuster A) layout with Arabic numerals and a triangle with two dots at 12 o’clock, and outstanding legibility both day and night thanks to the use of Super-LumiNova C3.
The dark sandblasted stainless steel case features straight lugs and a matte surface to prevent reflections in the cockpit, and includes the historic “FL 23883” engraving on the side, along with a solid engraved case back that reinforces its technical and instrumental character.
The watch is powered by the Laco 200 automatic movement, based on the reliable Swiss Sellita SW 200, renowned for its precision, robustness, and excellent performance in daily wear.
The thermally blued steel hands, filled with Super-LumiNova C3, provide optimal contrast and clear readability even in low-light conditions.
It is completed with a brown calfskin leather strap with rivets, a historic detail that today retains strong aesthetic value and enhances the watch’s authentic pilot character.
The watch is delivered in a presentation watch box with an included cardboard outer case.
