The Laco Original Pilot Watches are authentic reconstructions of the historic observation watches of the 1940s, also known as B-Uhr, derived from the German term Beobachtungsuhren. At the time, only a small number of manufacturers were authorized by the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM), the former German Ministry of Aviation, to produce these pilot watches.
With an impressive original diameter of 55 mm, these timepieces were used as true navigation instruments. Alongside IWC, Lange & Söhne, Stowa and Wempe, Laco was one of the five original manufacturers that created an icon of watchmaking which has inspired countless wristwatches.

With the Pilot Watches Original collection, Laco today offers the most authentic reconstructions of this type of watch available on the market, preserving their historic essence.
In addition to the replica with the original 55 mm diameter, the collection is available in contemporary case sizes of 39, 42 and 45 mm. All components are proportionally adapted to each size, always based on the original historical construction plans.
The current models share many features with their historic predecessors, such as the iconic logo-free dial to avoid distractions, Type A (Baumuster A) or Type B (Baumuster B) dial layouts, and the characteristic straight-lug case shape with a matte grey finish to reduce reflections in the cockpit.
Optimal legibility, both day and night, remains a top priority. While radioactive materials were used in the past, today only safe Super-LumiNova luminous material is employed. The distinctive oversized crown allows the watch to be operated easily, even while wearing gloves.
The lateral engraving “FL 23883” represents a former classification number rather than a serial number. On historic models, this engraving was located inside the case; on current versions, it is displayed on the exterior. The rivets on the leather strap, which once served a structural purpose, are now retained as a purely decorative reference to the original design.
This model is powered by the automatic Laco 200 movement, based on the reliable Sellita SW 200. The case is crafted from stainless steel with a dark sandblasted finish and features the “FL 23883” engraving. It is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a solid engraved case back.
The dial features numerals and indices treated with Super-LumiNova C3, while the thermally blued steel hands are filled with the same luminous material to ensure excellent readability in all lighting conditions.
It is completed with a brown calfskin leather strap with rivets and is delivered in a watch box with an outer cardboard box included.
